In a startling development that has sent shockwaves through the national capital, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell has uncovered a massive drug network in Ramesh Nagar, seizing 200 kg of cocaine valued at a staggering ₹2,000 crore. This bust comes hot on the heels of another major drug haul just last week, bringing the total value of seized narcotics to over ₹7,000 crore in mere days.
The Special Cell, known for its expertise in handling high-profile cases, tracked the drug supplier using GPS technology before zeroing in on the location in west Delhi. However, in a twist worthy of a crime thriller, the accused managed to flee to London, leaving behind the enormous drug cache.
“This seizure is part of the same syndicate where we earlier confiscated cocaine worth ₹5,600 crore,” a senior police official stated, highlighting the interconnected nature of these operations.
The magnitude of these back-to-back seizures is unprecedented, with law enforcement agencies recovering a total of 762 kg of drugs valued at over ₹7,500 crore in just one week. “It is the biggest drug haul in the country,” the official added, underscoring the significance of the operation.
Last week’s operation saw the arrest of four individuals following a raid in south Delhi, where over 500 kg of cocaine were seized. Among those apprehended was Jitendra Pal Singh, also known as Jassi, who was caught at Amritsar airport while attempting to flee to the United Kingdom.
The involvement of international players has become evident, with the police revealing links to organised crime in the UK and a pan-India network responsible for smuggling illegal drugs into the country. The name of an Indian citizen, Virendra Basoya, now residing in Dubai, has also surfaced during interrogations, pointing to a complex web of international connections.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are grappling with the sheer scale of this operation, which spans multiple countries and involves sophisticated smuggling techniques. The recent arrests of foreign nationals in Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area, caught with heroin and cocaine, further highlight the pervasive nature of this illicit trade.
With each passing day, new details emerge, painting a picture of a vast and intricate narcotics network that has managed to infiltrate the heart of India’s capital. As law enforcement agencies continue their relentless pursuit, the question on everyone’s mind is: How deep does this rabbit hole go?
