In a shocking turn of events, former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was fatally shot outside his son’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra East. The 66-year-old NCP leader’s murder has sent waves of disbelief through the political community and beyond.
The attack occurred around 9:30 PM when gunmen opened fire on Siddique and an associate. Despite quick medical attention, Siddique succumbed to chest wounds.
In a surprising development, the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the assassination through a social media post. This claim is currently under investigation by central agencies.
Two suspects have been arrested so far: 23-year-old Gurmail Baljit Singh from Haryana and 19-year-old Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh. A third suspect, Shiv Kumar Gautam, is still at large, along with a suspected handler.
The investigation has revealed that the suspects had been planning this attack for months, conducting extensive reconnaissance. Each shooter was reportedly paid ₹50,000 in advance.
This incident follows a recent shooting outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence, also linked to the Bishnoi gang. As a precaution, security around Khan’s home has been increased.
Political leaders across party lines have expressed their shock and demanded a thorough investigation. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called the murder “shocking beyond words,” while Rahul Gandhi also expressed his condolences.
As the investigation unfolds, questions arise about the rising violence in Maharashtra and the reach of organized crime syndicates.
